At Franks Accountants, for every new client we take on, we donate £100 to our charity partner. This meant last year we raised more than £3600 for Hope Pastures, however, this year our aim is to raise even more for Our Angels and hit £5k.
About Our Angels Charity
Our Angels are an invaluable and truly amazing charity, who support parents and families through the heartbreak of baby loss. They will wholeheartedly support anyone who has experienced baby loss at any stage, aiming to improve the experience in any small way they can. Our Angels are such an important charity where anyone who has suffered from child loss can find a support network, so they don’t have to face it alone. They provide support group meetings, poems, and online information to guide families through this sad time, as well as providing support to midwives so their better equipped to support bereaved parents.
Proud to support Our Angels
Adam, the Managing Director for Franks Accountants is a strong believer in helping and donating to local charities, stating “I am passionate about supporting local charities and playing a part in helping our community thrive.” This outlook is carried throughout the whole business acumen, with Franks Accountants being a 2016 finalist in the Yorkshire Choice Awards for the Charitable Business of the Year award.
Chris, from Our Angels says “Our Angels has been supporting bereaved families in the Harrogate & Wetherby area since 2009. It is run by volunteers who have themselves experienced the tragedy of losing a child through stillbirth or neonatal death, and depends entirely on donations to survive. Since becoming a registered charity 18 months ago, we have been able to significantly expand the work we do. Our major projects at the moment are a refurbishment of the bereavement suite on the Labour Ward at Harrogate Hospital and the funding of counselling sessions for bereaved parents to plug the gap left by lengthy NHS waiting times. In addition to this we continue to provide memory boxes for bereaved parents, vital equipment for the hospital, and specialist bereavement training for midwives and other health professionals, along with our Facebook-based support structures and monthly support group meetings. In February 2017 we are co-hosting a midwifery conference on bereavement and baby loss with the University of Bradford’s Student Midwifery Society. The 400 tickets sold out in less than four weeks, which really emphasises what an important issue this is to get right.
Support from local businesses like Franks Accountants and their new clients is absolutely essential to enable us to continue the work we do. Corporate donations make such a huge difference, and we cannot thank Adam, his team, or his customers enough for their incredible support throughout 2016. The amount they have already raised to the end of October provides us with enough funds to train 60-80 health professionals in specialist bereavement care for parents, or counselling for around 12 families who would otherwise be left to suffer in silence. The support we have received from Franks this year makes an enormous difference to bereaved families in our area.”
We’re proud to have Our Angels as our charity partner for 2016. We’ll update you in the new year with our overall donation figure. So, keep looking back to see if we’ve made it to our target!
